Experienced Veterinary Assistant Practice Manager
Arizona Veterinary Oncology is seeking a manager to work alongside our current practice manager to oversee our three facilities. The main practice location is in Gilbert, AZ. The other facilities are located in Glendale. The practice managers oversee all aspects of the business activities of the hospitals. We value quality care and have a close knit team who truly care about and enjoy working with each other. We are looking for a manager to become part of our family to help us care for our team, clients, and patients. We are a small fun team who love to make the day as light as possible during sometimes emotionally demanding and fast-paced environment. This is a “hands-on” position where you will assist in various areas depending on the hospitals needs each day. We currently have two full-time medical oncologists and two full-time radiation oncologists. One of the radiation oncologist is also the owner of the practice and the other recently joined our team. Our support staff are highly trained and we utilize their skills to the fullest. We hope to expand our practice with another medical oncologist as soon as we find the right candidate.
JOB SUMMARY
The practice managers partner with the owner to create a hospital culture based on high quality patient care and exceptional customer service. Responsibilities include managing, planning, and coordinating overall operations of the hospital while cultivating a supportive and collaborative team environment.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees employee benefit program and all practice insurance plans including worker’s compensation.
- Develops and implements hospital policy including DEA/ Controlled Substances, OSHA, and USP 800.
- Implementing safety and security procedures.
- Monitors computer systems and software and works with IT to resolve technical system and equipment issues. Works with the facility manager to keep the hospital in tip top condition.
- Partners with the owner to address staffing needs including recruiting, hiring, training, and managing staff.
- Demonstrates and reinforces the highest level of client service and helps resolve client issues.
- Marketing initiatives for the practice.
- Works with the payroll company to ensure accurate submission of staff time.
- Manages accounts receivable.
- Manages hospital inventory and controls facility and administrative costs.
- Financial budgeting and financial reporting including reading and analyzing a P & L statement.
- Performs other duties essential to the performance of the hospital as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE and/or EXPERIENCE
- Supervisory and leadership experience.
- Multi-functional operations including budget and labor management.
- Problem solving and resolution management skills.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office suite, Cornerstone knowledge a plus)
- Interpersonal skills with staff, clients, referring veterinarians, and facility colleagues.
- Customer service strategies and effect marketing techniques.
- HR Policies and protocol development.
- Staff management including: coaching, developing, and motivating staff.
- Conduct performance appraisals.
- Make decisions confidently and effectively.
- Demonstrate the ability to show empathy toward clients and treat animals with respect and compassion.
